Senior Portrait Photography in Digital Format

A lot of schools now are requiring that your high school senior turns their senior photos in digital format on a CD. Now, more and more photographers in the Denver area are offering your senior portrait session in digital format. High school seniors appreciate this because they are now able to put their senior pictures on their myspace, facebook, or twitter without having to scan the picture.

There are a couple of things your should know about before wanting a digital session…

“Full resolution” means that the photographer will save the pictures on the CD in its entirety. Please talk to your photographer and make sure your images will be in full resolution. “Web only” means that the pictures would look good online but when they are printed they will be pixilated. If they specify that your images can only be printed as a 4×6, that means that if you try to print them out bigger, they will also be pixilated.

“Full rights” means just that, that you have full rights to print out any pictures that you want at any time. When the photographer lets you know that you have full rights, you should be given a release form that states you are given full rights to your images. Some printing establishments respect the photographer and will not print out anything without the release form.

So those are just a couple of things you should know before choosing a photographer for your senior pictures. Please ask your photographer if the pictures on the CD will be in full resolution and that you have full rights to the pictures.
